About
A sounding is an act of measuring depth—lowering a weighted line into unknown waters to discover what lies beneath. It is also an exchange: a way of testing ideas, listening, and discovering through dialogue. Sounding House takes its name from both practices, offering a place to explore beneath the surface, exchange perspectives, and discover what emerges through making and gathering.
Sounding House is an artist-led space for creative practice and community. Through art, small-scale workshops, and shared experiences, we invite people to slow down, look closely, and make together.

Artist and educator Kendra Curry-Khanna founded Sounding House as a place to center her creative practice while cultivating community through art, learning, and collaboration. Drawing on nearly three decades of experience working with artists and arts organizations across the United States and internationally, from large institutions to grassroots community initiatives, she brings together her work as a visual artist, educator, and facilitator under one roof.
Rooted in the community she calls home, Sounding House reflects her belief that art can be experienced in many ways—not only through the objects we create, but through the relationships, conversations, and discoveries that emerge along the way.
